I notice that Coppercube supports Direct Draw Surface for static models. As my coppercube projects are using the DirectX renderer (not OpenGL) - is there any reason I shouldn't use the DDS format to compress all my textures to use in coppercube? After a bit of testing with a program called compressonator, it looks as though compressing images with DDS might save tons of space in my game - and it also has a batch processor to convert all my images in one simple process. Just wondering - does anyone know if DDS textures will affect performance or introduce any problems? Thanks. |

If you are loading some textures dynamically in your game as needed then should reduce loading time but if not then no difference as all textures are coded a special way in CC from memory so once loaded and saved in the exe file makes no difference...only texture size matters... |

Perfect answer - thank you Robo. In that case, I'll not bother converting them - Ill just let CC do its magic. |
