Hi all,

It has been a few years ago since i checked this forum. I see Coppercube got updated and im planning to make a new game.

Here is some work i did the last couple weeks.

https://youtube.com/shorts/YcF_gyq3oiM?feature=share

I created the character with Makehuman and animated it with motion capture files in Blender.
The animations so far:

-punch left/right
-movement (run only)
-kick
-Block
-Hit effect
-death
-melee attack

I will try to post updates on regular basis.
Best regards

shadynl

It looks great! The animations are really nice. I will be interested to see the game develop further. The brickwork looks good with the lighting - simple, but effective.

Did you make the motion-capture yourself?

-(I'm thinking of purchasing "Brekel Body v2" to try to make my own animations with a KinectOne sensor and PC adapter. I'm currently using the mixamo website for animating characters but I'm paranoid that the mixamo service will close eventually).

Hi there VeganPete,

thanks for your reply. I got the Motion capture data from Mixamo also. I share the fear of losing this some day as a good source for my my characters motions. There is another downloadable database with MOCAP files from the Carnegy melon university on the web if you do a google search. It contains hundreds of motions in a RAR file that u can easy edit with a software called 'BVHacker'. With this software you can cut and edit the mocap files the way you like it.

The 'brickwork' in my game is just a small scene i created to make the character stand out a bit and look good:)
Im working on environments/levels now. The character is the most work since you really should think trough all motions you need in the game. I based this game on the sample beat-em-up game Just in case created. I just want it to be in 3D. I created 2d games before on other engines. I have read about how just cause forgot the 'death animation', for his character in the game.... now im still affraid im missing motions after a week of testing lol :)

best regards

Robert/shadynl

Hi shadynl, a question: How did you import the Makehuman character to Coppercube with the textures? I ask this because in Makehuman it's not possible to export the character's textures as a single image, which I believe is necessary to apply to the character inside the Coppercube.

I will create a tutorial for this when i have some spare time. If you do a search on youtube there is a tutorial on that somewhere. It took me a while to figure it out as well.

The CopperCity looks nice, I wonder how it will look with real-time shadows and dynamic lighting. Hope you will complete it near soon.

Hi just_in_case, funny how after years i still see the same active people on this forum:) how u been doing? (I like your beat m up!)
I was not planning to finish the game any time soon. This is a more serious project and i want to get it on platforms like Steam and perhaps the Playstation Store.
So far i didnt do much with lighting except a couple quick tests. Whatever i do it doesnt look any good. Maybe cause my scene is just to big? It isnt a priority at the moment but all tips are welcome. I tried dynamic lighting on buildings and terrains, tried static lighting... i see shadows are cast but some buildings in full shade are just totally black....
Maybe i decide not to use lighting at all so it runs on lower end devices? I have not decided so far. In small (indoor) scenes i get the best results so far anyway...
Regards Robert

Hi shadynl, I'm trying to export MakeHuman models to Mixamo, and then export them to Coppercube, but the character has no texture in the engine. I'm looking in forums and on Youtube, but I still haven't found any that make the MakeHuman textures work with animations on Coppercube. Do you know any Youtube video with this tutorial that you can share here? Thank you very much!
