I dont recommend using Realtime Shadows as the results are just terrible - really, really bad: In my indoor scene with 158k polygons and 355 MB textures, I had a frame drop of 114 - 134 frames just from using dynamic shadows alone !! - yes you heard that right - over 100 frames per second drop just from turning on shadows alone ! - even I was shocked to see this... I might have to reconsider using it for my outdoor terrains also as all that performance could be better used for other things in my game.. |

In a large outdoor scene with 500k polygons and turning on/off realtime shadows I dropped a whopping 170 frames !! OMG...yes OMG OMG |

Using the Directional Light howver is totally fine (without realtime shadows) and shows no change in frame rate using it at all...cool. |

So you recommend not to use dynamic shadow? But by turning it off, the appearance of the game will not look very beautiful. Is there an alternative way? Is there a fake shade? Or can shader be used? |

Hi Alireza, yes, you can fake the shadows: You need to use the lightmaps: with this, you can stamp the shadows in the textures of the objects, and this way you will have no dynamic shadows, but the models will have shadows in the texture. How to do this: In the material of object, put the option "static(lightmaps)", then you just need to caculate in the lightmap options in the coppercube! |
