Nice Sven, I liked it - player animations look good and the lighting is good also.

I would have the screen move up and down slightly according to the screen reticule as sometimes couldn't see up ahead in time.

Also needs a run animation and when he jumps I would not jump the cameras up - only the player.

The player could rotate at speed to the next shooting direction instead of instantly rotating to the right angle to shoot.

Keep going with this, will be fun to play when done for sure.

I liked the result, has a very solid gameplay!

Did you used the standard character behavior AI for the enemys?

The camera turn to face the ground when holding the buttons turn left or right. I guess you use the built in third person camera?

Thanks for feedback.

Player has run animation with key Q ( shift key cant be used because default controller messes everything up currently)

Camera is scripted but character controller is default plus scripted (will replace it with my own script soon because it wont cooperate with custom scripts as expected)

AI is scripted (i never had good result with built in AI so i had to script it )
For AI i use my AI9 with patrol and route (edited to fit this game)

Whoa! This was FUN to play! I got every enemy but 1, and got killed from the guy on the perch. Second time, I came around from the side and killed him first, before he saw me. Then killed everyone else quickly.

However, even if I killed everyone, I still die? NO FAIR!

I like the music. Was it yours or someone else's? I'd love to help work on music for ya.

My only complaints are:

1) I prefer to use the arrow keys for movement (forward, reverse, left and right)
2) Pivot (turning left and right) is "drifty" (it's not perfectly smooth; it's like you change angle in large increments, but the camera has to take a moment to get there) and that makes a perfectly playable game (3PP) somewhat unplayable, as I could tell my eyes were trying to get me motion sick.

Left/right pivot should be perfectly smooth (very small increments with immediate result, no lag). I don't want to use my game as an example, but it's the only one I can think of at the moment.

The comical (unintentional, I know, but still!) factor is fun. You're firing this really LOUD gun, soldiers are dying (one after the other, right next to each other sometimes), and yet none of the others react to this. Like, they ignore EVERYTHING going on around them!

I have to say, this game is a LOT of fun to play, even if everything is the same everytime you play. The player's character animation is really nice. Good idle animation. Makes him seem real, like he's really there.

Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the next revision!

Music is by Eric
https://www.ambiera.com/forum.ph...
He have huge amount of cool audio there.
Its mentioned on credits screen also.. will make title and credit screens more readable for final version.

Camera will be updated for sure.. but slow rotation can be considered as focus time .. so you cant straight start shooting.
Probably i add free look ..so you can look around without haveing to rotate player.

AI actually have ability to see who got hit and activate ..
Currently AI who got hit must be in FOV of the another AI and in certain range to be activated.. will setup it for final version so its more realistic.
(Or maybe i left it so if they see AI who got hit then nearby AI fov will be 360- so its like cautios mode)

AI will have hearing also.. so if player makes noise then AI will react.
I will probably add some stealth options for player also so it can be more strategic than just shoot and run.

Shot sound is loud because i didnt find better sound for that.. i want shot with silencer probably.. you cant do one man mission with loud gun for sure :D

One problem with A.I is when I hide behind corner while shooting, they stop shooting/finding me and go back to their routine.

As this is just the initial development of the game, you already have things planned for the game.

Here is the basic feedback for the game, the framerate was consistent for me 58-60 fps.
There were no visual glitches.

While most of the player animations are blending great, I found the shoot animation a bit sudden. Or maybe it is due to the rotation issue of the player towards the shoot direction.

Also if you shoot while running the player speed won't slow down, I think it should go back to the normal speed, if you are shooting while running. But again that is maybe how you wanted it to be.

Recoil gets increased when running and I like it. Bullets going everywhere.

The Melee attack range is a bit higher and it should be decreased, I liked that you included a melee attack in the initial state of your game, can be more useful when you develop stealth mode for the player.

most of the other issues have been already discussed, and you are already aware of them yourself.

this is coming along pretty nicely, would love to see it in a complete state.

Edit:- I fogot to mention that you don't have to provide the cursor file texture along with the exe. You can simply create a dummy node in your .ccb project and apply the texture to it. and you don't have to do anything else. Now the cursor will show up in the game, even without the external texture.

Nice game.

My opinion, reducing the volume of the music by half, needs a skybox, which you will certainly put, the possibility of rolling to the sides or at least dodging to the sides, you know, kneeling, lying down, etc. Bigger and rounder sights, don't do the standard cross or target, they are bad to see. Run in shift. The song is cool, but a slower and more tense version of it might be better I think. You could slow it down with Audacity. Being able to drive some vehicles.

Focus first on the gameplay and weapons, before moving on to improving the graphics and creating more maps/stages.

Do you want a game tip in this style? Armymen 1 and Winback, both from N64, they are really cool and can give you ideas.

Also Far Cry 1, you can throw rocks or objects to attract enemies' attention. You can watch the videos of these games I mentioned, you don't need to play them.

Great start Sven!

Things I liked:

1-The black fog/lighting is great! having the soldiers sort of disappear into the background is awesome...feels scary and suspenseful, which is great.

2-I like that the soldiers don't attack all at once. That makes them feel more organized.

3-The soldier behind the wall/taking cover and sniping is great.
He got me the first two times I tried to attack him.

Suggestions:

1-When the soldiers disappear in the fog/shadows..maybe you can change the music to more "suspenseful" music more moody or darker in tone. Also maybe have the enemy soldiers..giving commands/comminication over walkie talkies but have those sounds coming from their direction.

2- If possible maybe have the player have a crouching animation so he can hide behind things without being seen.

3- The soldier hiding behind the wall/turret maybe he can have a more powerful rotating machine gun that can cause a lot of damage, or throw grenades...so he can almost be like a final boss. Also maybe there is mine field behind the turret which can have explosives randomly placed each time the game is restarted that will blow up the player if he tries to sneak up behind the that soldier. Another idea is to add an attacking dog etc.

4-If the player wins ..some type of "reward" or victory animation or display "You won!"

5- Adding a dark moody skybox sky will help with the atmosphere of the game so that we can see maybe a little more of the silhouettes/shapes of the buildings in the background.

Keep going sven Your one of my favorite CC programmers and thank you for sharing your work with us.

Thanks for feedback:

I updated the link and added sliders for volume and camera speed also simple blood particle effect if AI gets hit.

Now crosshair should be included with exe without need to have external file.
Shoot animation is faulty because rotation isnt smooth-will make it smooth soon (currently i use walk animation for run shoot- will use correct animation soon)

Animations Crouch and Strate left/right i want to add soon.
Run with shift key will be added also.

Different type of enemies will be there maybe even attack dogs.
Mines and traps would be also cool.
Throw grenade and knife attack animations would be nice-will add them if i can.
Victory screen and next mission will be added for sure.
