See if you like my code that no matter the angle between the planet and sun can adjust correct lighting to get solar eclipse happening:

Video not on Youtube to stop a few competitors:

Regardles of angle betwen the two objects will adjust lighting accordingly - fully or partial eclipse.

This is awesome, can we use it for different size of planets. In your scene the planet is too big, but can we use a very small planet same as the size of sunnin your video?

Yes, the way I coded it will work with any size planet actually -you just have work out the distance from centre when the light should begin to dim.

Simply uses rotating invisible mesh (ie long box) with 2d plane attached as child to end and pivot point at other end - forget skyboxes - this way calculates distance until the start of darkening is reached - ie outer edge of planet.

I will probably add a extra darken to the planet as being in front should go completely black I think...

@Robo
Impressing, also your latest videos about textures & terrain, thanks - fantastic job!

By what you're getting out of CopperCube you'r proving many times that CC can't be that bad in comparism to unity, right? ;-)

thanks 'hadoken' - yes its good to see some decent things that can be done with CopperCube- even if its me doing it or someone else. Simple 2d planes with single image looks quite good me thinks..

CopperCube is good enough for most indie games and fun without being too complex like Unity. Of course at some point if your want higher outcome then you may want to step up to something else but I am not going anywhere even if I build my levels in Unity (which is really good) I will finish my game God willing in CopperCube....have no interest learning a whole new game engine and programming language...takes like 2 years+ just to get to a good level doing that...

The game version looks a lot better as no video resolution loss - just so you know..
