World War II rages and high-ranking SS officer, Herr Zimmler, has recruited the help of the Nazi occult leader, Frau Zora, to create a new army of super-soldiers by using the powerful Red Pearl of Bethlehem. As it happens Herr Zimmler also "kidnapped" the girlfriend of the best Ally agent, Mr. Blastovich.

You, agent Blastovich, are on a mission to stop Herr Zimmler and Frau Zora, retrieve the Red Pearl, and possibly ‘save’ your girlfriend, Hilda Baumann.

This mission will send you directly to Wolfenwald and Frau Zora’s castle, Dunkel Sturm...


Since I've been focused on some real-life things for a couple of months now & I'm not sure if I will be able to continue development for at least another two months, I decided to post the first level of my new game, Return To Wolfenwald.

One of my all-time favorite games was Return To Castle Wolfenstein (2001), this game is an anime-parody-wanna-be-sequel to it :) It's going to have two versions, adult & non-adult (teen), this is the first level of a Teen (T rated) version without any adult content.

It's missing a few things: health & ammo boxes, food that players can eat like in the original. Since it's a development version I decided to place some options: free camera, instant kill, all keys & few others :)

@DouweDabbe Hahaha it's just a name that sounds similar to Wolfenstein, Wald is a forest in the german language, so 'Return to Wolf's forest' :) I wanted to exclude the 'castle' part, that would be almost identical :)

Your work is always been amazing, the video looks awesome. Just like the Aziela chronicles , my apologies if i spelled it wrong.
This looks so better the animation and all, haven't yet tried the game, will check it out once I reach to my P.C and will provide further feedback.
By looking at gameplay Video as per visuals this looks stunning 😇

@DouweDabbe Yeah, it's sort of a parody with anime-like characters. At this time there is only one big dialog in the level. I will add more (shorter) dialogs in the new game versions and some comments to make the main character pop up.

I like 'Allo 'Allo, I think I watched it about 3 times from start to end :) There are some controversies that surfaced in the last few years, I believe some of them are valid because the parts of the series didn't really age that well, but my overall impression was always very good.

I have never seen Dad's Army, there seems to be one from 1968 & one from 2016, I will check it out, it looks like a fun watch :)

@just_in_case Cheers, I'm looking forward to your feedback, you always have a very useful and creative critic. Hopefully, there won't be many bugs. Health & ammo boxes are not implemented yet, also food that players can eat to increase health is missing.

I am too struggling with a dialog system, that's robust, lightweight and appropriately surprising even for its maker.

I have groups of gangsters fighting each other and the police while uttering comical frases in English dialect, while I don't speak English that well, never heard the dialect, and cant know its peculiarities.

i made action_BScomment , its on the forum, to deal with randomness.

but now i find it difficult to create the frases and its fragments

@DouweDabbe This game will not have very demanding dialogs from a technical pow because there will be no dialog-branching.

The last time I had to create a complex dialog system was in Aziella, I used a program called Twine. The program has an option to export to HTML (for web games) and to 'Proofing copy'. With the second option and numeric branding of passages, you can easily create a script that can function in CC just as well as it functions in HTML format.

So I played the demo, and it is as impressive as it looks in the video, there were no bugs in the main gameplay but there are some, but I am assuming those are not related to the final game, they are there just because of the demo.

however, the only thing that Comes to mind at first glance at the demo is, Why aren't you using a custom font for the Text that appears as counter and continue button and at other places.
or maybe you just forgot to provide the font file along with the demo. the default font doesn't show up correctly at least for me, it shows some artifacts around the text. Ruining the whole impression of the game.

then there are some bugs with info panel, turning off and on antialiasing, camera switching. that I believe is intended for debugging purpose and will get removed from the final version.

I don't know how many levels are in there for total, I played the one where you have to kill two robots and one soldier. and then the game ends for me there.

I tried going back but the door in front of the armory was closed and won't open.

Also, there is a bug, you need to fix it. The lever near the door where you kill the soldier. can be triggered from outside the room as well.
if you point the cursor at the correct position from outside the armory the cursor will change and you can press "E" to trigger/pull the switch/lever.

one more thing if you play the game on a display with HDR enabled then there are some places too dark in the game that you might barely be able to see the object around, it will be nice if you add a flashlight, if not a flashlight then a fire torch option to fit into the theme of the game so that one can enable or disable it to see the area more clearly.


the bugs that I encountered with the menu and other stuff are.
when you open the info panel it won't remain on the screen and if you hold down the key then it flashes which is not good at all.

The same goes with anti-aliasing on/off if reflections are turned on and you press "L" to turn On/Off anti-aliasing then the screen will start blinking/flashing.

sometimes the game just stuck and you will then not be able to control the player while doing the same.

The same goes with camera switching if you switch the camera too often and try turning on and off anti-aliasing and reflection with K/L then the player controls get lost and you will no longer be able to control the player.

The shade enables and disables with entering works perfectly. And I really like the smoke that comes when you encounter the robots.

The sound choice is great and is on perfect timing.

the other thing that I found not that good is the flashing of the whole screen when the enemy shoots. It acts like a stun grenade for the player. you will not be able to see the enemy for a second and not everybody will like that.
The same is with the objects that shine bright when a player shoots them, generally the metal objects in the scene.
it feels really odd personally to me to shoot one thing and watch every object brighten up.

it will be much better if you use proximity behavior with the bullet or with the objects to make them shine when shot. so that only the object that is fired at will shine and the rest of the objects remains unaffected. but it's totally up to you, it is just my personal opinion.

other than that, the game plays very awesomely and is good in visual quality. Amazing job by you. Also I played the version "T" don't know about the "A" version.

one more thing when the female voice narrates the story, I saw two white blocks there don't know if you have used some images there or planned to put something in there.

Hope these issues will get fixed in the final version, I believe they are due to debugging things. except for the interaction bug where you can trigger the action from a very long distance just like the pulling of the lever.

that's all that I have noticed.

Just played the demo again and found that there was a keyhole right after the armory where I have to put the key and pull the lever in the treasury/grainery to open the door to continue the game.

you really need to make the levers and other interactable options to stand out from the other scene objects maybe flash them or something else, it's hard to notice them.

Anyways I am enjoying the demo and playing further levels, :)
