Bug...I think. The bug is whenever I go to vegetate the terrain with grass in Coppercube...The grass appears to float! The terrain does have a lot of hills, bumps, and lumps, but I don't think that the grass is supposed to levitate over the terrain like that. Is there any information regarding what could be causing this? |

yup, you are right grass might appear as if it is floating but I don't think it's a bug, it seems this is how it is programmed to be drawn on terrain. unfortunately, there is nothing to alter in terrain that much. |

I've used a lot of grass, flowers and trees in my game. You can successfully eliminate the floating.... Grass-placement is determined the bottom pixels of the image - so when you make a grass billboard, be sure to crop all the empty/unused pixels from the bottom of the png first. In this example, the left grass will appear float above ground (because of the transparent pixels at the bottom of the png), the right grass should sit level with the terrain... ...same idea when making trees, the branches are drawn from the bottom left pixel - so crop your branch image to the bottom left and have it at a 45degree angle (bottom left to top right). If there is any gap at the bottom left, the branches will not appear to connect to the tree. Once it's working properly, you can also adjust the width/height of the grass (using the same billboard) to add variety and depth for natural looking grass/foliage. |
