Why whenever I put a scene node inside of another scene node it resizes the whole thing!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

It's not a bug, it's a feature. The parent scale of the parent node also influences the scale of its child nodes.
Example: If the parent's node dimensions =2,2,2 and child node's dimensions =1,1,1 the child node dimensions will actually become 2,2,2.
The best thing to do is to (if you want the child node's scale to be 1,1,1) is to "freeze scale and normalize normals" of the Parent's node, before creating the child node.
You could also set the child node's scale to be 0.5,0.5,0.5 (half of the parent node's scale), but to avoid other problems, it's always best to use the same "scale" for all your models ( whether they're parents or children) by using "freeze scale and normalize normals" for all your models.
