Do not use prefabs and the standard textures that come with coppercube. Especially the standard textures. It's as simple as that. I've seen countless games that look exactly the same because they all use the same coppercube textures. Unfortunately, even more advanced games are often guilty of this and it is always just as big of a turn-off. Using the standard textures makes your game look lazy and as if you did not put any effort into it. It takes very little time to go on the internet and search for some tileable textures and free 3d models so please do it. A lot of games made with coppercube are created by beginners and are not that great, not that there is anything wrong with that. If you use those same textures your game will be associated with these other games that do not use custom textures. Just changing some textures will immediately make your game stand out and look better than others. Sorry for the rant, I've wanted to say this for a long time. This really is the least you can do. |

I honestly wish the editor didn't have any prefabs by default. its just unnecessary bloat and they have no real use IMO... |

@velli2 Thank you for bringing this up. I mostly agree with your opinion. People intending to publish games created with CopperCube should keep this advice surely in mind to improve the success of their projects as well as CopperCube's overall reputation. But in my opinion CopperCube lacks any significant number of remarkable finished & published projects at all by now. So on the other hand there should be no misconception regarding your statement. For example here on the forum, you can hardly find lots of finished games but rather smaller tech demos, which are used to discuss, learn and test the implementation of various game mechanics with CopperCube. These basic prototypes form the majority of results, but are not meant to be judged as finished games or CC flagships. Why should anybody invest a lot of time and work in the implementation of appealing look & assets if you first have to make sure that the essential infrastructure of the game engine can deliver what you want it to, right? I'm grateful for quite some friendly & helpful people here working hard inside & outside the forum supporting CopperCube to transform from an underestimated underdog to a well established, still easily accessible, but powerful and potential 3D game and app creation tool with a hopefully prospering community. In fact CopperCube's development is based on the work of only one main developer, Niko, so I'm not the only one being in doubt if he will find the time and interest to improve coppercube in the future. However, Niko has given his software many options so that it can be developed and be strengthened by the community. I think we should take advantage of that and show Niko that this baby of him will be worth it, too. |

Huh, there is almost nothing there ! Quiet the opposite. It is the prefabs that make Coppercube so useful for rapid prototyping behaviors and actions !!! If only the list of available actions, behaviors and plugins was more up-to-date. |
