Is there a way of editing the html of a page. I know I can add bits in here and there, but I trying to put a shopping cart widget in and the code needs for some reason to be exactly before the head and exactly before body at the bottom of the page. I can do this in my webspace and it works just fine in there, but if I edit a page and publish again I loose what I have done and I have to start again. It would be much easier if I could edit the page html in Rocket Cake so as it would stay in place. Just adding via the normal add to html does not insert in the correct place for the widget to work.

Usually, this isn't really necessary (having this exactly before and after body/head etc). Most code usually works everywhere, and this is only written by the developers so that it doesn't conflict with other code.

You can put a HTML Code element in RocketCake at the very top of the page and then insert your code there, this will then be directly below the body.

For adding stuff in the header, you can use the additional code in header feature (use View -> HTML Code of page -> Additional Code in header).

Eric

The widget code is from Roman Cart, you could set up a free account, then add a couple of products and get the widget code yourself. Or I could email the code over if you would like to have a play. The code is in 3 parts. The first code has to go before the head, and the third code has to go before body at the bottom of page. The second code is the one that you place where you want the widget to appear. I have spent about 8 hours so far trying all the different containers, and various other ideas, but the only way I could get it to work was by publishing the site and then logging on to my 1and1 webspace and inserting the code in there. In RC I could place the second code before a container, then insert the other two codes via webspace and it then worked, but if I put the second code into any of the conatiners, it does not work. I am going to have another play today. I am sure you understand what a pain in the backside it will be if I have to put the code back into webspace each time I make any minor changes and publish the site, when it would have been so easy if I could have accessed the html on the RC page and inserted the code in the right places. I have spoken with Roman Cart and of course they just blame RC program. Just realised RC stands for Rocket Cake and not Roman Cart??

Thanks, I was able to make it work and send you the details back.

If someone else runs into a problem like this: The problem was that that shop software won't run when using the "Preview" feature from your local disk. It only runs when you test it on an actual web server (even a local one).

i had the same problem here with the cookie consent lines...

- add the following css just before the </head> tag...
- then add the following code just before the </body> tag...

couldn't get it work, so i edited the exported html site simply with notepad... hope i have not to change the site again in the future but did a note for me if i have to that i have to edit it again xD

So to clear things up. The Roman Cart wdget is made up of 3 codes. The first code has to go at the top of page before (head).I opened up the html for the page in RC and inserted this code, and it works.

The second Roman Cart code can be placed in a html container within other containers. I have a container with two columns, the left column is full of pictures and the right column has wording at the top, then just below the wording I placed another container with a html container within. This is where I inserted the second code for the Roman Cart widget within the second container. (Right Click edit html) I then tried to place the third Roman Cart code into the page html, however it would only place it before the second code and not at the bottom just before body at the bottom of page html, it always placed it above the second Roman Cart code. So I ended up inserting a second html container just below the first html container and inserted the third Roman Cart code. However I still had a problem with the widget appearing over the wording, this was got round by setting the container properties to a set width and auto for height. This was done with a lot of help from Niko. And yes it is not possible to view the widget in preview, you must publish first and then view.

Hope some of this makes sense.

It works with a trick:
- On the page you linked, go to the section where it says string.toUpperCase() and copy the emoji from there into RocketCake.
- You will then see it in the RocketCake editor in black/white.
- If you hit 'preview' this ouputs something else, unfortunately.
- To fix this, in RocketCake, click 'Options' and uncheck "html encode Unicode characters"
- Click preview again, and it should work
