I decided to keep the RocketCake program on my hard disc but the site I was developing was on a thumb drive. This was done by svaing the initial new blank site to, in my case j: drive with the program on c: drive. When I came to preview the site, RocketCake could not find it. I saved the file by " publish to disc" onto the j: drive. Going into file explorer, I clicked on index on the j: drive and Firefox opened the site up perfectly. It would seem that for preview to work, the preview files have to be in the temporary directory created by RockCake on the c: drive |

Yes, the preview files are stored on the temporary path Windows tells RocketCake to use, so its strange that this didn't work for you. You are using Windows 10, right? |

Yes I am using W10. I looked into appdata/local/temp/ and can find no reference to rocketcake files. Can I look elsewhere? |

you make an preview in RC. Then you can see the path in your Browser and exactly there are the files. But it can be, that you mean another problem? |

The problem is, I think, that you cannot specify the location which preview uses to store the preview files. It seems that from what Niko says, the location is determined by windows and RC. The result is that when I decided to change the location of the created website to a thumb drive and not my hard disc, I was not able to preview them without going into file explorer and navigating to the "local disc" published site which again I had put on the thumb drive. This of course involves a lot of swapping. If I could point the preview facility to a specific preview folder manually then that would be great. I did try completely deleting RC (including all mentions in appdata and all other places I could find) and reinstalling again. When I tested the new installation with a supplied specimen page, preview worked ok and the preview files were on C:drive ****/appdata/local/temp/rocketcake_preview, but moving back to the thumb drive gave the original problem. Otherwise , I love the program! |

ah,! Now I understood. But these are two different things - preview and published I have an other way: I made a folder for the publishing site, published at the first time and made a link at the desktop to the index.html of this site. Now always I can publish and click at this link to see what I've done |

Many thanks for this tip bupp. It's good to have this support, much appreciated. It would be good to have the facility to alter the preview site as feature of the program though |
