Nobody knows what @Niko is doing right now, on what features he is working on or what we will get to see in the next coppercube release.

this makes us really really tired and we ended up in giving up on coppercube. many of us has already done that.

@Niko at-least you should announce publicly after a release of coppercube version that on which new features you will be going to work for the next update.

or you should at least make a new thread with your so called "TO DO LIST" and pinned it top of other post on the feature request section. So that people won't make duplicate request if the feature is already in your "TO DO LIST"....

you can mark request as priority ( enhancement, must have feature, good to have, or add if possible or no need to develop)

this will make existing users to believe that you are really working on something. and will make them stick to the engine for long time.

just now i read a post of user named @Karmcomposer he anounced that he gave up on coppercube. and had seen a lot of others like @Zoo,@jaimezegpi @crackyourspeaker and many more users who did the same thing. they have tried to make the game engine rise. but they have left the community due to limitation of the engine and due to lack of information regarding what they will be offered in the next updates...

hope you will do something regarding this.

You are in true, you can add another user, me, coppercube have a big potential, really, but no plans, no raodmap, and only Niko working on the engine, it's totally closed, and absolutly not open to the dev community...
Sorry but i'm looking somes other new 3d engine.More work but more result....too bad.

I don't like all the negativity on this forum as of late... People keep acting like Niko's obligated to do this stuff (add a public roadmap, todo list, etc..) when, in fact, he's not. We, as a community, need to just let him work at his own pace and give him constructive criticism and feedback and not negative stuff like this.

Trust me: I want to see CopperCube (and Ambiera in general) succeed for many years to come, but demanding this stuff isn't going to help. He's pretty much a one-man show and, as far as I know, is the only one who actively maintains all of the programs which he's made and the last thing he needs is posts like this.

it is absolutely not a negative comment, or a criticism, but a report, I love this software but it is not usable in production.

First of all, creating this entire engine as a lone-wolf programmer is always an incredible achievement. The scale of this project speaks volumes about Niko & what he's capable of.

Also he was wise to discontinue the old school trial-time-shareware-thing concept because that thing no longer works. The concept of free + payed version, fully functional software & bonus features for payed version, is a good way to go. It insures that much larger number of people will use the engine & potentially buy the paid version once their game reaches the point in which bonus features are required.

In my opinion, the engine's free version has all of the features that it should have. The focus of the further development should be on paid version features. Shaders for lightmapped static & animated geometry, implementation of antialiasing/edge-blur in post-processing effects, smaller difference between desktop & webgl capabilities/builds...

In that sense, the transparency of development would be a good idea, not only as an informative footnote but as an incentive to people using the engine to consider buying the paid version.

I have one day try to introduce cc in a production in the company in which I work, the export of webgl of cc is particularly well to optimize, but the medium-term visibility of evolution of the engine one brakes all the people with whom I work.
The ergonomics of the software is very good, but no visibility on the short and medium term.

Hey folks, zoo here...Yes, I have sort of given up on CC myself.

For all of the above reasons and more. For example, this terrible website, the fact that he is refusing to expand his team, refusing to be active on the Facebook communities or on other community websites.

I also hate the fact that he is working on all those other projects which obviously do not make much money and judging from the forum posts , well they are not very popular anymore.

I have said it many times. Nikon does not seem to believe in his cash cow and is always wasting time on bull like making games and building free website creation tools etc...

If he just focussed on CC this engine would have rivaled Unity because it is far easier to use. But then again, so buggy, so incomplete.

It is frustrating.

Other CC heavyweights have left, not just crackyourspeakers, me and jaimiezegby.

I think I'll be taking a break from this forum for now since I am absolutely sick of seeing people act self-entitled and demanding. If I were Niko, I would've quit due to the crap that you all are writing

It seems that community has started a world war against the developer, don't you guys think @Niko knows the best what he is doing with his projects and all...

Personally i too beleive a roadmap of the upcoming features and bug removal... Will be great.

But still , have patience i have seen and used the engine with no, or very less capabilities before...
If you compare the current version with older versions like 4.5 and 4.0 nd all. You will notice that we have got a lot of changes and a lot of features..

Let him do what he is doing. If you need help then ask the other members around. Let niko works on the engine. Thats why i reply to almost any post so that niko will get extra time to work on the engine instead of texting and solving problems of people around here...

Love his efforts..but a roadmap to the features will be great to see..

Heh :)

I know, the fact that there is no public roadmap is one of the most criticized things with Coppercube, for the longest time. I'll probably add one in the near future. It won't have any dates on it, but at least a prioritization so you can see my plans.

About me working on other projects too: I too would also prefer to work full time 100% on CopperCube all the time, but I also have to run this business and be sure to make a stable income, in order keep projects such as CopperCube running. I've been doing this since about 13 years now, and it works. Take a look at the fate of other non-super-star 3D engines. Most of them are dead now. I'm not going to let this happen to CopperCube. This mode of operandi makes progress a little bit slower, but at least it guarantees that the engine continues to exist.

Also some are giving out small samples of their work that help others very much because we have to learn to think around the "available" limitations.

I have researched some 20 engines and this is the best and easyist

Thanks

I kinda agree (no hate against the developer) that the limitations of the engine are majorily fusterating and turned me away from continuing with this engine. There is literally no development too. The scripting engine is what bothers me the most, though. I cant even access , onMouseEvent, and onKeyboard events! I cant access the developer console. I cant listen for events. It. Is. So. Limited. Being stuck in the ES5 age suckkks and ES6 sugar syntax would make things 2x easier!!!! But not a single peep from this engine in months. It looks like Niko lost interest, and is interested in game development now. Also, the language here used like "cashcow" and the hateful words to niko here is kinda harsh and unneeded. No one asked for that. Have some decency. In fact, I think the community helped kill COppercube too, because I have seen another no programming program/app called "Sketchware" that died because of its cancerous community. This community is heading towards the same fate.
