Hey,

Does anybody know how to convert md2 animated models into .x or any other coppercube supported animation format file...

I have so many md2 models and I want to use them with coppercube...

You can use free https://www.babel3d.com/ online converter.
A better option is milkshape , you can converter many formats.

;)

Maybe you all are not getting me right... my md2 models are animated... and yeah I can convert it through ms3d ... but all animations will be lost.... I want to convert them with all animations too...

I don't want my model to be a static one..

And seppgirty open3dmod doesn't works in my pc... even it is not opening obj or any kind of file...

I don't think it's possible to convert animated md2 models since they are vertix animated models. (no skeketon)

So far i tried fragmotion, open mod,UU3d pro and can not get animations to convert.

I'll keep checking.

Yeah... it seems impposible to convert this type of models with animations.....

By the way coppercube supports direct import of animated md2 models in the editor...
But they will not be visible in the target file...

Hope this feature will be added to coppercube in future..

My answer is a bit late but I think it is still valid.

there is a nice converter that i want to share here as a tip

it is called: NoEsis

its an old software that can convert between some 2 a 300 different 3d mesh models into a handfull of mainstay formats.

it converts while keeping textures and animations

Thanks! @ DouweDabbe for your answer, but I no longer need to convert my models to .x as coppercube now supports .fbx models and I already found blender addon in past that helped me in the conversion.

I really like it how the editor has support for md2 animated models but the client exe doesn't support them.
I don't know if anybody uses md2 models these days.

I was trying to use irrlicht models in CopperCube for learning and experimenting and needed to convert them.

Anyways thanks for your answer and for reviving such an old post, it brings a lot of Coppercube memories in my mind, of my early days in CC.

NoEsis is here

https://richwhitehouse.com/index.php?content=inc_projects.php&showproject=91

Noesis is a tool for previewing and converting between hundreds of model, image, and animation formats. It utilizes a robust plugin system, with support for native extension modules and Python scripts. The plugin/script API features hundreds of functions and interfaces which assist in developing new formats, tools, and visualization aids. Noesis also features processing, conversion, and visualization options for many different types of volume data, including medical imaging formats such as Analyze 7.5, NifTI-1, and DICOM.

These older mesh formats are really nice as they are really small and mostly include all the needed textures and animations.

Some people develop their games for the highest possible sense of reality.
I do not , 2d or primitive 3d is good enough. Creating a game while leaning how to do it is a massive undertaking. So I like to lighten this burden by lending external models when appropiately small and lowpoly. and to replace them later with my own creations.

These days there are old games such as Counter Strike that offer their games as freeware while the models are available in their source format so no hacking required.

kind greetingz and best wishes for the new year everybody.

tip: inflation in the EU is to go higherr to 15 to 20 % I believe.

Yes,

I am even an licenced [strike]user[endstrike] owner of this software but I am way to stupid to use it properly.

fiddle here fidlle there

I got the CS source mdl files here with many animations that they dont fit in original md3/5 format.
had partial succes with fbx and gltf to x
but not to b3d or ms3d
(partial that is my birds lost their wings and or had their bones thrown around,
1 human fared better sofar, but animations, over 20 I believe, got all thrown together and must be separated by blender striping them.)

I think its easier to run tjernobyl than use these old software's
the old blender3ds are a disaster and the newer ones are nightmarishly complicated.
