Although every of my exported meshes are displayed correctly, when importing one in IrrEdit, the polycount in the Message Log is everytime 0... Does anyone have this problem ? I will post a sample mesh if needed. Thank you all ! |

Ok, I use this old thread to post about some new problems. I got another mesh bugging and I absolutely don't know why. IrrEdit (and Irrlicht as well) must definitely have some issue with how .x meshes are loaded. Well, or so far with the 3dsmax Panda Exporter way of exporting at least. I just tried to export a mesh as I casually do, but somehow it messed up and showed up all upside down in IrrEdit. It looked totally fine though with DXviewer. Maybe it's a problem of the mesh,I admit. But, a recurrent issue is that if you export any mesh WITHOUT the material list option, it does not show up in IrrProducts :) You just have a bounding box. Indeed, it looks fine in dxviewer. This is a big problem actually for me because I am working with complex scenes, and seeing all the materials in the scene exported at once in any single little mesh slows down my workflow quite alot. Niko, I'll send you samples of my meshes so that you can check out, if you don't mind :) Currently tested with 3dsmax 9 and 2008, 32bit editions. Thanks |

Hi, :D I am starting to use IRR. I attempted to load a direct x mesh to view it. It is a large mesh so I thought that could be a problem. I then loaded a small direct x mesh in ascii. That too did not load, complaining about a semi colon problem. The files load ok in the Microsoft viewer and other software that I am using. Do you know when this problem will be fixed? Thanks, Jack |

Go to the Irrlicht forum and create a thread in the beginner's forum with a link to the uploaded model so that the engine developers can take a look at the file and see why it's not loading. Basically Irrlicht isn't parsing the file properly and doesn't find materials which means it then doesn't load the model properly resulting in nothing on screen. |

Well, I have been advised some times ago a radical solution : move to .obj. It was a real pain in the *** considering the amount of meshes my project (Smiers) contains. But that was worth it. I was told .x is such a messy format that can be exported and imported in many ways, with therefore many ways to screw up. |
