Many .x figures and fbx converions require a merged UV to display properly in CC. It would be a time saver if CC could support UV sharing (same UV range for each group. Quality may improve if we could use higher density textures with individual maps for each group.
If this is not possible, how about a texture atlas tool and decimation to help convert optimize for CC on import. Artango/Unwrella has a plug-in api for licensing their technology in third party rendering systems.

Hm, could you maybe send me one or two example files which don't work? I could fix this then, which is probably the easiest way.
