Save to Local - Non-Image File Pathways

Hi again, Niko.

Firstly, a very big thank you for the speed with which you have responded to my previous questions. It is so refreshing to get this kind of personal attention from a software developer!

My question:

When I save my site to a local disk, WSP compiles all files linked within the project into the wsp_images folder. Is there a way to create custom src folder pathways into which non-image files can be compiled during the save process?

If this isn't possible at the moment may I suggest the ideal situation here would be the ability to create "content" folders in the Documents sidebar. The "Properties" dialog box could then include a button to load files (PDF, MID, etc.) directly from my computer into the WSP project file folders created this way. When the project is saved, WSP could then compile these folders and their content just as it does regular folders with their html documents contents.

Yes, images added to your website are included in the .wspd, but ordinatey files are not. There is also no special folder for linked files, they are put into the images folder. You can rename that folder name if you like (it is under 'Options'), but it is still the same folder holding both.

But if you are forced for a different folder sturcture for specific files, you could still upload that big file manually to your server, and set a hyperlink to the web adress of your uploaded file, instead of to the file on your local disk.

Thanks for the suggestions, would be an idea.

Thanks again, Niko!

Yes, the separate content folder/s on my server might be the best option at this stage. My problem isn't one that I imagine would be common. I have a very large archive of MIDI files (don't laugh!) that I want to make accessible to music students and others who will be the main visitors to my site. Each MIDI file will also have an accompanying PDF music score and possibly other music file formats, including proprietary ones such as Sibelius (music notation). The folder arrangement will be one of all songs arranged A - Z by title as well as A - Z by composer. It will add an extra step in the maintenance of the site that I had hoped to avoid but, a single index page outside the WSP compiler should do the trick.

But, if this could be done within the WSP environment, that would be extra good! :-)

Perhaps (and I'm not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination) other file type content could be handled the same way as images. For example, a "Content Box" (or "Folder" or "Container", etc.) option in the toolset. Click and insert to open a properties window for it - load file/s and perhaps also an option to specify a simple name:

very_long_name_pathway_with_lots_of_numbers.MID renamed to Song01.mid

Anyway, I'm just throwing some ideas out there :-)

Cheers!

Ken

Yes, I also thought of a very similar option which could also include that feature. Let's see :)
