lightmap textures are not generated...

Hi,

By two days now i am unsucessfull when i try to get textures (bmp or png files) generated from my testing project, i have searched this forum (and the irrlicth forum as well) and i dont get what i am doing wrong.

When i open any of the INCLUDED examples projects from the package, added light objects, and then use the lightmap tool to light the scene, then when i export the scene to irrlitch i got the irr file and the .lightmap folder with required textures files on in...

However I am unable to do the same when i start a new project from scratch. I import a room mesh from ms3d file, i open my difusse texture, then i add a light object and then light the scene with the lightmapper, the result is beatiful!!, then i save the project, and then i use the export option to irlitch scene... well, then i got the Irr file, the irrmesh file but it is missing the .lightmap folder and there are not any texture files anywhere.

I have compared my test project with the exampes projects included and checking properties for the mesh and for the light object and still i dont found what i am missing.

What is the trick?, in which cases coppercube dosent generate lightmaps texture files even when i lightmaped the scene?

Hm, strnage, it works for me nicely. Which CopperCube version are you using? Maybe the .ms3d you are importing is animated? Try import a static mesh instead, like a .3ds or .obj file.

Hi Nico,

Seem i made a mess in my tests; i tried again starting from zero and using lastest coppercube version and all work just fine; beatifull. This is the best lightmapper I ever seen.

But I have also downloaded some of the the last total free irredit version 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 just to check if they are usefull for my non comercial proyect. it is from those versions where i am unable to get lightmaps texture files generated.

version 1.5 looks too bugy, every time I push the button for lightmap the scene then a new lightmap texture is adedd in the texture panel in the app; also the zoom and pan camera works weird; but i suspect those problems could be related coz i am using windows 7.

version 1.3 and 1,4 works great in the app, except that my ms3d model imported mesh appear with the Z coordinate value pointing in inverse order; not big deal about that, i can just export my ms3d with z coordinate inverted and fix it when imported back.

Every time i lightmap the scene i can see the generated textures in the texture panel with names like "unsaved lightmap.." but i am unable to save those files to disk, no matter with fileformat or option i use when exporting and saving; or as least i can found it anywhere.

Another mistery that maybe you can clear for me, why is that when i save as Irr scene with irrmesh files, and i open those files back then my scene still show iluminated as the lightmap last calculated (!?), as far i know Irr file format are just text files in xlm kind format, so where that hell those pixel lights are comming from ??!

The problems in 1.4,1.3 and 1.5 are in old versions, so there won't be any updates for those, just use the new version instead. Is the irrscene export problem also in those versions?
