There is now a small update to CopperCube 4 available. It basically fixes a few bugs, improves Android performance a lot (scenes can now use up to twice as much memory!) and introduces a zoom functionality for the model viewer camera. Get it here: http://www.ambiera.com/coppercub... Details: - The model viewer camera now has an option to enable zooming using the mouse wheel (or zoom gestures on android). - Android apps created by CopperCube now start much faster because of lazy texture loading. - Android apps created by CopperCube now only need about half of the memory as before when starting up. This means android apps can now be much bigger and more detailed. - When android apps run out of memory, there is a warning displayed about that now. - 2D Overlays no longer block first person camera input, as known from CopperCube 3. Only Touch Screen input nodes now do. - Fixed a bug causing problems creating android apps when the current Windows user name has spaces in it. - Fixed a bug causing the 3rd person camera not to follow the object correctly when the target is scaled. |

Yay! Thanks Niko. I did not think you would release and update so quickly. I can not wait to test this later! |

Very nice update. That was fast! Good job Niko. If only Coppercube had built-in (massive) terrain sculpting and generation it would be the perfect engine for me. Mike |

I am anon again as I have forgotten my password (again). I think I must have too many to remember. I have just tried the zooming function on an android app and really love that you got it working so quickly. Is there any way to change the way it works though? It seems to work in the opposite way to how I thought it would. e.g. Pinching zooms in and expanding zooms out. Is there also a way to move the model (or camera) by holding two fingers on the screen and dragging? Also, (this isn't a problem for me because I have the S Pen) but is there a way to make and save a screenshot to the android image gallery? Sorry to ask these things after all the hard work you just put in to getting an update out. Thanks for a great product! Marc |

Yes I agree the pinching on touch screens seems to be in reverse to what feels like the natural way to zoom in (pinching outwards to make bigger) ... Or maybe this could be an option? Also, I've noticed that player movement using 2D touch overlays with a first person camera over terrain keeps stopping as though it's stuck. No problems with Flash or WebGL or any other output, but with Android it's very noticeable. Any ideas why this might be happening? I've played with the settings a lot! A truly fantastic update though with 4.0.1. Very exciting possibilities. Andy |

As a side note. I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the way Niko is so active on the forums and the way he listens to his customers and implements changes based on their feedback. It is really amazing. He is now added to my 'List'. (and I do not mean that kind of list for those in the know ) I mean the list of amazing software developers whose applications I use and love. It is a small list but contains similar programs and similar developers who engage with their customer base and develop their software on the needs of their users. Most of these companies have small teams who actually seem to care and I believe this is one of the reasons why their service is so much better than a vast majority of the bigger software companies. My list is: 3D Coat and Andrew Shpagin Construct 2 and Ashley Gullen Coppercube and Nikolaus Gebhardt Thank you Niko. I am really optimistic about the future of Coppercube. Marc |

It seems to work in the opposite way to how I thought it would. e.g. Pinching zooms in and expanding zooms out. Yes, you can change the zoom direction easily. There is a zoom speed, just use a negative value for that. Like -1.6 instead of 1.6. No problems with Flash or WebGL or any other output, but with Android it's very noticeable. Any ideas why this might be happening? Hm, it might help to set the update mode to 'every frame', but I'm not sure if that's the reason. I'll also see if this can be improved. I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the way Niko is so active on the forums and the way he listens to his customers and implements changes based on their feedback. It is really amazing. Hehe, thanks! :) |
