Also for clarification, I did build this with the current standard OpenXR runtime. I just did all button input mappings for meta quest as it was the only mappings I knew how to do at the moment. So technically it should run on steamVR but button logic most likely won’t. So have you tested it with steam vr yet?

Remember you have to switch your active openxr runtime to steam if you try it.

So I did get some time to look into it @hadoken. To reclarify the OpenXR runtime that ArchXR system runs on is standard official OpenXR runtime. I had bindings locked to meta because thats what i was testing and trying to see if it will even work. Now i did add bindings for Valve / Vive / Microsoft Motion Controller (WMR) / Khronos Simple Controller. So right Now (once i update it/after i test) it should run on SteamVR if you switch your runtime to Steam OpenXR. In the Steam App. But from my research coppercube exe games cannot run on linux unless you use wine, is that correct?

So, you would have to use wine with proton or something and then steamvr will work. But even then i may have to completely reconstruct the openxr session files to include Linux graphic libraries / possibly Linux openxr loaders...ect

Unless you have already tried coppercube games on linux with wine and or even steamvr exe titles and they worked then maybe.. but idk it seems do able in the "far future" but may need a lot of time to research and plan how to go about it.

For ArchXR to work on Linux, it should most likely be sufficient to be able to run ArchXR with standard OpenXR and SteamVR for Windows (but without the need for the Meta Horizon Link app).

The rest would be handled completely by Proton/Wine. SteamVR and CopperCube.exe games already run very well with Proton/Wine, so in my opinion, no additional Linux OpenXR session files, OpenXR loaders, or native Linux graphics libraries should be required because it would be using the Windows ones.

I have been working with CopperCube on Linux for years, for which I need Wine, but it works perfectly and it's awesome.

Since it is currently impossible to say whether Meta will discontinue its VR support at some point, it would be nice to have SteamVR as a widely accepted solution that also works with Linux plus Proton/Wine. Meta Horizon Link app probably will never run with Proton/Wine.

Perfect that’s just what I needed to know. So since I just built it yesterday adding controller bindings for most controller’s interaction profiles that steam would need, it should work as you stated. But you will have to wait till I get home today from work for me to update the paid version on itch with the new setup. I was so tired yesterday that I knocked out before I could get around to it.

So yeah just remember to switch your OpenXR Runtime to Steam.

it's not working on SteamVR yet. Give me some time to dig deeper something else internally is being rejected by steamvr's openxr runtime. Currently troubleshooting it now.

@hadoken

Alright, finally I found the culprit. I had to lower the "apiVersion" ArchXR was using for its Openxr Creation. Meta accepted the higher up-to-date version, but SteamVR did not.

Working perfectly on both now. I updated paidRelease on my itch page.

Also, added a debug dev console Popup. So we can all have a better way to find errors in our OpenXR builds.

Sounds great @archangel, I will hopefully find time to test at weekend. Thanks for taking care for the debug console, which will make things way more easy I assume.

Just bought this and tested it. It's amazing!
But it's still missing some critical things:

- SteamVR isn't working. It might be a bug, but the game launches in normal mode (without VR) when connected via SteamVR.

- 3D audio isn't working properly. Currently, sound is heard from the player's center spawn point, not from the object. It also doesn't take into account the player's camera rotation to determine the direction of the sound. 2D audio works normally.

- There needs to be an option to hide the console, as it will be off-putting to players in the released game.

I’ll look into the sound and hiding the console. But the SteamVR definitely works 100% ask hadoken. You have to switch your openxr runtime to steam in order to use it. And switch to meta in order to use that.

@archangel

Yep, you're right! Just switching OpenXR runtime and it works!

Found new bug: Only in SteamVR runtime 2D overlays are broken as free ArchVR version. It's not critical as 3D sound problem (actually this sound problem ruins all VR-dive)

Also, i'm still working at my VR-game and can test all things you will add in future fast as i can :3

I never corrected the overlay issue for the free version and don’t plan to, too much work.

The sound issue I’ll take a look at but the sound engine is not my area of expertise. And i Never changed anything in the sound engine so it should have worked like normal but again I’ll look into it. Either way it’s not the end all be all right

@archangel
No, i just want to say that is SteamVR runtime have problem with 2D overlays and it's works same as a free ArchVR version.

As for the sound, I think it's because Camera1, which is used for VR mode, doesn't move around the world and coordinates in the usual engine sense. Therefore, the engine sends sound in the direction the camera is initially facing.

I hope this helps!

Okay it may help me in pinpointing that problem. Thanks for that feedback. I’ll be booting up my pc soon.

Also to clarify, are you saying the 2dOverlays are not aligned correctly on the “paid” version with steamVR? I have not tried in a long time so I do not remember?
