I like coppercube, it's a great easy to use engine with great capabilities and few limitations that i personally think are a plus, i think it's great to make old school looking games. (Old school like PS2 era games.)

But i am curious about it's development. I'd like to have a Linux version of the tool (both the editor and linux target for export). I even willing buy a new copy of coppercube if needed.

So. like i said, i am curious. How's the development going? the roadmap page looks outdated.

Peace and keep the good work. :-)

Niko jumps in here occasionally to let us know he's still working on it as a background project - I think they're small updates, not an overhaul. I'd say "you can safely Ignore the road map" - development releases are extremely sparse these days and pretty much none-existent. If you enjoy it as it is, I'd expect it's not going to change much from that in the coming years.

Obviously, the strength of coppercube lies in it's user-made sccripts for actions and behaviours. The community-driven development is quite active, with people adding new features and functions every few months or so. As I understand it, you also have the possibility to inject new functions (ported from irrlicht) by using a wrapper/launcher made by other users - there are a few around if you search the forum.

I installed coppercube quite easily on ubuntu linux using wine...

ChatGPT has the answers... Just note, I downloaded and installed the version from the Ambiera website... 6.7.3 - It did not work with steam.

I also had to update my video drivers...

I might have to try steam through wine because there linux compatibility option does not work well at all and even if you get it working on ubuntu, it breaks....

You can then use perl for multiplayer and compile to exe if that is needed. I was able to do it successfuly with CC 6.7.3

If you give me remote access to your machine, I can install it for you when I have time... I am working full time now...But, I am sure that others can help...Although I am only competent with Ubuntu with Gnome

I'm curious... in downloads, it says the last Mac version is 6.3. However, when I go to purchase Pro/Studio, the Mac version is still an option (version 6?). Is this a later version (or latest version) or still only 6.3? I assume this version would not run on an M1 Mac (Silicon) or greater, correct?

The mac version doesn't run on intel mac or M series processors. Modern mac OS isn't compatible or something. i dont know which versions do run it but i know monterey and later wont run it

If Niko doesn't plan to make major updates, if he sees this message, he should at least include copy/paste for actions, and fix the UV mapping for the trunk texture for tree generation which is still in beta, that would already be a pretty good step forward.emoji icon_holy

You don't just give access to your pc to strangers online mister. XD XD.

But thanks anyway. I have Coppercube running in linux already, i bought the studio version via Steam and so far it looks like it runs fine in proton experimental.

But still i prefer native versions of programs, just a weird thing of mine.

I have to try to convert webGL exported games in native linux games using a wrapper like Electron or Taurus to see if i can get a more 'less navigator based' experience.
