It can. Largely depends on which software you exported the model with - coppercube works best with 2015 sdk fbx models. Most modelling software uses a later version sdk for export. Check the forum for a more detailed explanation, it's been asked and answered many times over.

You can delete in blender but all materials attach together then you have remove from the vertex of the 3d model from the original model.
