Hi, CopperCube (and other products) is 40% off now on this page: https://www.ambiera.com/discount... This is Ambiera's new year sale, as we do this every year. I wish you a happy and successful new year! |
||||
|
Thanks Niko, it's really a good discount! Have any news about the next update of the engine? |
||||
|
Are we getting an update this year or not? You have posted nothing about this on x.com and we have not had an update for a year. Why do you hate your own engine so much? |

@Niko is a good programmer, I know I see what he did with Coppercube. But it would be good for him to analyze other ways to profit from Coppercube - donations I don't know. But therefore, the updates would be more frequent. Perhaps he did not realize that even having other options to hit in certain areas etc. Many still prefer CCB. I believe it is for your simple and easy approach. But I leave my orders here. Add the WebSocket, rewrite the engine lighting and materials. Make an editor to Linux. I use Coppercube with bottles on Linux Mint Works, but it would be better a native. |

He should either make the system opensource or build plugins / extensions for his system and sell them to extend the engine. Because, this system is amazing, but he does not know how to monetise it. There is a lot of talent in this community begging for this engine to be extended into it's full potential, but yet, nothing... I read somewhere that @Niko is in his 50s, he probably has very little ambition left for this engine but there are a ton of people who have been begging for years for @Niko to do something with this. I don't care about the graphics...but performance & modern targets such as Meta Quest 3, improved WebGL & the most important thing being a heavily expanded Javascript API should be the priority. The thing is that JIC & Robo have extended the engine and sent @Niko the code, all he has to do is weave it into his production pipeline, but he says nothing, he does nothing and for that reason tons of people have left because of this. This is the easiest to use general purpose engine on market and has more potential then any other engine for the indie market... But yet, still, silence |

Since CopperCube was made free it is generating less revenue. And I don't think open-sourcing the editor will help @niko a bit. It is better that he works at his own pace on the editor, to those who think that the engine has been abandoned then No it is not, it will still receive updates. An update was planned to be released at the end of the year 2023 but some other things needed to be prioritized first. it is not as easy as it seems to integrate the code sent by the community to add into the final version. @niko has to manually check the code if it is breaking the engine or not, if there are any memory leak issues or not, whether the code should be recreated for other platforms or not, or if it should be added to the editor as well or not. it is not as simple as that, if there is code submitted by multiple entities then he also needs to make sure that the code doesn't conflict with each other and has to decide which code needs to be added and which shouldn't be. In my opinion, CopperCube needs a reboot and should be made paid once again. |

even when Coppercube was free, it was not getting many updates. Since coppercube was made free, the community has grown hugely. The problem is that the premium version does not provide much over the free version which is why very few people are paying for it. In my opinion, there should be no coppercube 7, rather 6.7 and premium only. ie a new pay tier with extended features. |

I just wish I knew how progress was going... if it was going... and when we might see a new release. From the horse's mouth, as it were. Word from Just_In_Case is nice, but it's not gospel. It's not from the primary developer. It would be no different than to ask an avid player of my game (if there are any... I wouldn't know, no one says anything, except complaints), when Stage 3 was being released... they might want it, but only *I* would be the person to tell anyone when might be the most likely timeframe of release. And, on that note, the only thing holding back development of Stage 3 is finances. If I had the money, free and clear (I have enough funds, but there always seems to be something more pressing requiring them, so I don 't dare spend them on anything so trivial (unimportant) as my game, til the road is so clear and open, I can know that there is no possible need for them elsewhere for the foreseeable future). |

Word from Just_In_Case is nice, but it's not gospel. I agree, only the developer @niko, knows when he is going to push an update but JIC is a moderator, probably the one who knows the insides of the engine the most after @niko, so maybe he has some ideas about what's going on with the development, or what's the dev status. If we are getting an update or not. It's no big deal that we didn't get an update by the end of the year, we didn't get an update in December during the last update as well. But JIC told in his Discord that there is an update planned to be released, so we can hope that we are going to get this soon enough. |

I don't know if I should Share it in public here or not, but when I asked the same question to him in his Discord he told me the same thing that you guys are writing. |
