I made a terrain with no trees because it was giving me a lot of FPS problems...but now I need the trees ;w; Is there a way to generate only trees or do I need to place one by one? Or maybe it's easier to model a group of them and ctrl-c+ctrl-v them? |

One way is just generate trees but lower the percentage value.. so trees will be placed over 5 % of terrain.. Another option was 'distrubute on terrain' (Maybe not correct word ) Select one tree and right klick..theres option (Dont know was you able to set percentage there also ,i am not behind computer currently) There are plugins for that also. |

Sven is right, you can create a single tree with the inbuilt tree generator or download a model online, and then right click on it and then go to modify selection and then distribute over terrain. To save performance a bit you can convert the trees into the static animated model. You can right-click the model > Modify selection > Clone as a static animated model. It will then open the animation editor window, you can then right-click in the animation editor window and then click on Create instance, it will create an animated model in the scenegraph explorer, which you can now right-click and then go to Modify selection and then can Distribute it to the terrain. For collision, just right-click in the animation window and you can set a static collision box in there. It will save you a lot of performance by not creating Collision geometry for the branches and additional stuff of the trees. You can simply create the static collision for the trunk(stem( of the tree and good to go. |
