so i made a decompiler for coppercube that can get game executable file or even other platforms like android and give the .ccb file source code

and it also work with all version of coppercube from beta to 6.6

i will showcase the program at the end

and keep that in mind that i wont share this program with anyone because i dont want people stop using coppercube because they know that their game could be decompiled

heres the program showcase : https://youtu.be/yAvqTMREsGM?si=...

Now I get it, how @just_in_case was able to help me out, when I only had the exe file and no CCB, but he took the exe and gave me CCB file. Maybe he has the same decompiler tool to get ccb out of exe.

I would like to have it, in order to save myself when I accidentally delete some ccb's and I only have the exe.

@hanicraft and @guest yeah, there are various ways to get items out of exe, it is better if it is not released to the public, as it will just ruin the whole concept of creating games with CopperCube, I am thinking of adding a layer of encryption to it like you can encrypt your copper-cube exe and use my launcher to run the game, the game won't decompile with the external decompilers or will have an extra layer of protection and the launcher will be the only one that can run the game, so that at least the game assets and other extensions and copyrighted stuff remain safe, and prevent other from ripping it.

I only use mine to help others when they need help with lost projects and corrupted projects and that too after verifying that they are the original author of the game. I also don't think it is a good idea to showcase this stuff to the public whatever the reason for it to be. It will simply demotivate people from using CopperCube.

Yeah that's why I didn't release it to public

Sad see this emoji icon_cry, I was about to use Coppercube again but now. does not make sense.

I also think @niko should make a version with the Open Source code he makes more money as he gets donations because many years go by and the engine does not improve some simple things.

Even with AI and other engines with some functions but advanced Coppercube still has users because they like it and it is simple to develop with it.

An Open Source version of CopperCube would allow others to solve problems and more games would be made with it growing the community I believe @niko would have better financial return than license to export to Android and so on.

... Mouth of Sauron ...

"F***, that's hell of a shocking truth that makes you definitely not want to create any projects with CopperCube anymore. Hahaha"

... Gandalf rides in from above ...

You shall know that every software can be hacked and cracked - even other game engines can not change that fact. But there's a difference between a super nerd deep investigating a compiled CopperCube .exe and every other user being allowed and able to do the same at the push of a button. There are ways and means to keep the effort relatively high and the task specialized knowledge specific to keep normalos discouraged from doing this.

chill out guys i just made this tool just for people to know coppercube games can also be decompiled, just like any other software, let me say no software is immune to decompilation, even engines like unity or unreal can be decompiled but the difficulty level is different, i dont mean to harm coppercube users or its developer, so i didnt publish this program to public

Sometimes people even KNOWING a thing exists, can work against the creator of it. It doesn't deincentivise me from making my game, so long as I know that my work wouldn't be copied. If people wanted to learn from my game, to make their game better or whatever, fine. But I think people are more concerned about their IP (Intellectual Property) than profit loss, unless they had invested a lot of money into a part of it, and it was copied and profited from, at their expense.

I'm not in favor of external "runtime" programs (like Manu uses), but if that became a necessary thing, due to bad actors causing trouble for other CopperCube developers, then you do whatcha gotta do.

Once a desirable thing is KNOWN to exist (like really good AI from, say, OpenAI), it's either only a matter of time before it's somehow leaked to the public (if you put/store ANYTHING in the cloud, it's no longer in JUST your possession) or abused for a bad purpose (if made publicly available).

Sometimes it's better to say nothing, if you create something that becomes a "genie in a bottle", because if it ever gets out... how do you put that genie back in the bottle?

Days without drama:
0

Breaking news: 75% of all coppecube users (around 10 people) stop using it every day. Fortunately these are the same people.

i dont mean to harm coppercube users or its developer, so i didnt publish this program to public

Tbh, I don't really see the point of posting this in case you're not intend to make it available for anyone. But you still can sell it to someone directly, right? I mean community is community, but 20$ is 20$ which is totally reasonable:)

I was about to use Coppercube again but now. does not make sense.

And I personally don't see why this could be an issue - your game is being decompiled, so what? Someone will reuse a model from it, or a piece of code. At least I haven't seen a single commercial game made with coppercube there this could be abused or may harm a developer in any way.

Just to clarify, the code in CopperCube is open to be read from the executable with any text editor because JavaScript is a free and open-source programming language. 3D models can be extracted by various software, so I don't think anyone needs to worry about it. emoji icon_devil

How can the code in CopperCube be read from the executable without decompiling, @SamGrady?

Are we talking about human readable JavaScript code from simply viewing *.exe files in notepad? Nonsense or do I miss something?

Can someone clarify that more specific, please?
