I just installed Coppercube and I'm having a lot of problems. Every time I start it, it asks me to install the DirectX runtime and says that if I don't then realtime shadows, water reflections, etc., won't work. So I click install, and then when the program loads I don't have the shadows or reflections anyway. When I try to test a level with water I get the following pop-up: CopperCube Debug Console Could not load shader function D3DXCompileShader from dll, shaders disabled d3dx9_43.dll (There may be more to this line, but it's cut off.) Could not create vertex shader I've updated Windows and it looks like my version of DirectX is current, but I still have these problems with Coppercube. I am not very tech-savvy and I don't know how to proceed. |

Hi, are you using a laptop with integrated graphics, by chance? I've had this same issue with a (admittedly very old - 2010) laptop I have. Same kind of error. If you want to work around this issue, go to the engine's "Tools" and click "Publishing settings". You'll see a tab named "Windows .exe" - click that and switch the 3D video driver to OpenGL |

I'm using an Asus laptop that's about a year old now. I specifically bought if for graphics stuff, and it has Intel Core i7-12650H with GeForce RTX 3060. I switched CC's settings to OpenGL and now there are water reflections but there are still no cast shadows. I also still get a pop-up telling me to download DirectX every time I start the program and after I do I get a pop-up saying that the program is running in OpenGL and I should switch to Direct3D. |

Make sure you are running CC as administrator , or try to install directX manually sometime it doesn't install with CC pop up. and then change back the editor to directX instead of OpenGL. Here is a guide on GV's Discord server by @just_in_case. |

I did as Guest suggested, and re-installed DirectX from the Microsoft page. I also checked for updates for my RTX360 driver, but it said I'm up to date. Then I restarted my computer. When I started CC it didn't ask me to download DirectX again, but when I tried to open a sample terrain the program crashed and gave me the following message: [Window Title] Coppercube crashed, sorry [Content] Please send the following text to office@ambiera.com (you can press Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard now): version:6.6, Exception: Access Violation Adress: 0xb5c8ab5b AVinfo (available): access mode:read, adress of data:0x00000054 If you remember, please also shortly describe what you clicked or did before CopperCube crashed. Thanks! [OK] This happened multiple times. CC crashes when I try to do anything with water or shadows, and when I try to add lights they look really flat and weird. I've sent a message to the address above but haven't heard back yet. |

Install this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/... |

I'd already installed the program at that link, but I tried installing it again. CC still crashes every time I try to use water or realtime shadows. I'm not hearing back from anybody at ambiera and the forum seems pretty quiet. I really want to use this program but I'm starting to get discouraged. It hasn't worked right since I first installed it and I don't know how to fix it. |

Niko, usually responds within 2-3 buisness days, or you can try contacting @just_in_case, though he is missing somehown from forums and his Discord server as well. if you want a wider audience that can test and provide more solution to your problem then try checking out the Discord servers out there, there has been many Discord server for Coppercube. |

I've tried Discord and I'm afraid I just don't understand it. I'm a total beginner there and I can never find anything. Is there one URL where I can go to find CC discussions on Discord? |

here are links to two Discord servers for CC, these are not official btw, but might help you out. Glitched Velocity :- https://discord.gg/RKcq89S7uA CC Unofficial:- https://discord.gg/2rvWmJ82aN |

Have you tried running CC as admin? |

>>Have you tried running CC as admin? I just tried that and it still crashed as soon as I tried to load the terrain environment. The program DOES run when I load it with webGL, but while the water has reflections there are no realtime shadows. >>here are links to two Discord servers for CC Thank you, but when I tried both of those links it said I couldn't post. One of them just had old messages of people "waving" at each other, and the other had old messages that all seemed to be from one person. I assume there's more going on there, but I couldn't find it. Sorry to be dense, but I just find Discord super confusing and I think it's not for me. |

The one with all waving each other is welcome page for the server, if you look at the left side panel, you might see a bunch of different channels that you can scroll, and can ask your questions. Most of the time almost every discord server has a Channel named as "General", you can ask there by posting your questions. TBH, Discord is much better than using forums, you probably get an answer much faster. |

Download it from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=8109 This fixed the issue for me too. |

j9907, I downloaded the version of DirectX at that link but I can't seem to open it. Long story short it was a big mess and I ended up screwing things up so badly I had to load a system restore point to fix it! When I downloaded the Direct X from the post at 2023-08-14 19:06:12, that loaded without a lot of problems. It didn't fix my CC issues, but it loaded. When I downloaded the version you directed me to, it seemed to be a zillion little files that all needed extracting. There was no "extract all", so I had to go into each file and extract the contents. Then those extracted files didn't do anything, they just sat there as a million little separate extracted files all over my desktop. I'm sorry if I'm missing something that should be obvious, but how do I install this version of DirectX and have it actually run? |
