Saw a video on Youtube about this software called Blockbench: https://www.blockbench.net/ Might be worth checking out for people looking for Blender alternatives. |

Fantastic! Good find @Guest. I spent ages looking for a simple 3D builder, simplest I found so far were MagicaVoxel, Crocotile 3D and Picocad but they weren't exactly what I'd hoped for. Blockbench looks really good, will give it a try now. Thanks for sharing. Here's a quick tutorial for Blockbench... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... |

If you're looking for a simplest tool, it's Dust3d in my opinion. It takes some time to get used to, and it also doesn't have any texture painting tools, but the flow is super fast: https://dust3d.org/ Also rc6 version has a really simple to use animation tool. There is only one rig for animals with 4 legs and a tail, but super useful for simple models. https://github.com/huxingyi/dust3d/releases |

@VP Here's the YouTube videos (in order) I saw about Blockbench: // hacktic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... // brandon james greer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... Both those guys make pretty excellent tutorials on game-related topics. @okeoke Dust3d makes some interesting organic models but I prefer working with multiple meshes in a scene and years ago I don't recall Dust3d being able to do that. It's just too novel an approach for me, I guess. My preferred software is Blender. This Blockbench looks enough like Blender for me feel like offering it to people as a beginner's tool won't stifle their learning and eventual migration to something like Blender or Maya. |
