***New Demo release!*** This WebGL demo contains limited gameplay and partial access to the first level of my online game project. Feel free to explore! (Do not forget to enable sound)
Requirements for this demo: 2GB dedicated graphics card or up.

Note that some bugs may occur. I still have a lot of work to do, check the details on my webpage.

I'm looking for some serious feedback and ideas on how to improve the game even further. At this point i have totally scrapped 'mobile' development. and focus on the WebGL version of the game.

Loaded it, and then everything started spinning. I can't seem to make it stop. I can change the camera pan direction and slow it down, but it seems to just want to keep moving. Clicked on the front door and went in, the shop closed up behind me and then everything started spinning again. I can't play 1st Person Shooters anymore (horrible motion sickness), so this constant camera panning in all directions is a deal killer for me, even short-term, for a few minutes. If it were 3rd person (like Bungie's Oni or American McGee's Alice - two favorites of mine), with proper camera control, no problem.

Thanks for the feedback luposian. Other users complained about the same issue so perhaps i might add the option to bind the cursor to the mouse so it will not be spinning around anymore. Personally i prefer it as it is but for people with motion sickness i can imagine it wont be fun to play that way. If you move the mouse tough you should easily be able to make it stop spinning almost 100%. I work on a big screen and also get slightly motion sick at times. To change this all i have to do is mark literally 1 checkbox:) i will upload a new demo asap so you can test it without getting sick:)

Didn't have enough time to play this, but yeah the camera needs to be improved. You can try using the move camera on Mouse down only and can use Pointer Lock for FPS camera in webGL settings that might help you. Will revisit it after my exams will be over and provide further feedback.

Update:

Dear members, I took your suggestions about the camera serious and made some changes to it. From this point on the game will no longer be a 'mouse only'game. The user will also have to use the keyboard for movement. This is the concession i had to make to make it all work like i want to. The player should no longer have issues with motion sickness.

I have uploaded a new demo where you can explore a bit:

https://netherplaystudios.nl/Esc...

A few notes:

-I took out the 'sewer' part in this demo. Only the 'diner scene' is available.
-Because this big of a change i need more time to make all function like before so some 'bugs' might occur.

-At the start of the game press the mousebutton to bind the cursor so it stops rotating.

-Use the ARROW keys for movement (S key is reserved)
-Press 'S' Key to activate Spikes trap
-Press 'G' key to activate Gas trap
-The fire alarm is activated by simply clicking on it
-Press 'Z' key to restart scene
-Press 'D' key to make the shutter go down ( use when inside the diner) (will change this later on)

I have much more work to do on this game, this camera change also got me thinking of many more ideas to implement.

please share your ideas with me and enjoy this small demo.

Idk but it seems a bit buggy at the moment, I can walk out the diner even after the shutter is down. I don't know why you resereved the "S" key for spikes, I believe just like most of the player are used with WASD keys for movement, and I have to restart the level at least 5 times because of accidental activation of traps, and it plays the sound continuously that was hard on my ears.

Visually the game is appealing but needs a lot of improvements and bug fixes. For example, the glass door still opens and closes in proximity even after the shutter is down.
The sound for the shutter down plays even after the shutter is down and you hit the "D" button.

I don't know why you removed the custom cursors of hand and magnifying glass, that were very helpful.

Also the game lags or jitters at some places.

Hope you will work on this and fix the bugs. Overall imo the previous version was better even with the bad cursor control.

Hey just in case, this is exactly the stuff that needs some more work. Ofcourse it is buggy. All that you mentioned will be fixed in a couple days. This demo just shows the camera change XD. Im looking for more ideas to inplement. These are easy fixes but i was short on time.

Please look past these small issues, ofcourse im not going to uses the S button to drop the spikes. It was just easy to remember for testing…. The door you can still walk trough after it closes is also fixed in 2 minutes. Im really looking for tips on how to improve the camera, or ideas to make it more entertaining. Personally i like this FPS game style and it also eliminates the motion sickness issue. ‘Moving the camera only when mouse is down like you suggested is not an option. When you release the mouse it is detected as a ‘click’! So this seems the best option to go with.

Latest update

-Added toilets section
-Added some gameplay, There is now a gun involved:)
-Added a security camera
-Fixed a lot of small issues

*note: the toilet scene is not fully shaded at the moment because i have to add a few more objects first.
*note: the video may 'jump at times' , my computer is doing stuff in the background. The webGL file runs smooth and is still under 200MB. (just dont open a lot of other tabs at the same time if you try the demo.)

enjoy!

p.s: Does anyone have a great working script or anything for a realistic camerashake on the standard CC FPS camera? I tried several scripts from the forum without any luck. I see a lot of activity on the forum lately and i like it a lot!

Added a new scene to the level. (Skip to the final minute of the video if you already seen the rest).
This scene will pop up upon death and is meant to be a reset/exit screen. Since i use the ‘cursor to mouse bind’ i need 3D working buttons for ‘reset’ and ‘exit’ options, 2d overlays wont work in this case so i decided to create an entire scene around it. At the same time im thinking of making it a bonus level with ghosts or something now:D
Anyone got a fun Idea? The file is 254mb at this point:p
