Content Placeholder

I created a Masterpage with 790 wide containers for header image with BG gradient, menu bar, and container for 20pt title.
Under that is a Content Placeholder set for 790w, minimum height=none. Preview of page looks OK.

When I create new page to be inserted in the Content Placeholder, I set the size at 100%, and the other settings at none, none, none, top. Then, I insert a lot of text that will take more than 1-2 pages when previewed and printed. I save using Masterpage. Preview looks OK but when I print, the content I added is always on the 2nd printed page. Header page has white space under title container all way to bottom of page 1. I have changed the size of the Content Placeholder to be very tall and the printed page is still the same with content starting on page 2.

What am I doing wrong here? This is driving me up wall for several days. Also, the page does not adjust responsively to cell or tablet.

All suggestions are very much appreciated!

Check the Margin settings of your containers. It sounds like at least one of the following margins is too large (or larger than you intended).
On the masterpage:
- the bottom margin of the container immediately above the placeholder
- the top margin of the placeholder
On the content page:
- the top margin of the first container
The order of margin settings is top, right, bottom, left.

Or maybe the container immediately above the placeholder has a minimum height setting which is larger than needed. If so, set this to "none".

Thanks!

On the masterpage:

0 - the bottom margin of the container immediately above the placeholder
0 - the top margin of the placeholder

On the content page:

0 - the top margin of the first container

There is NO height setting to set for the container immediately above the placeholder. This is the container that has a Text Box for Title of website. Underneath this container is the Content Placeholder.

Basically, all padding and margins are set to 0 now and the printing still has content starting on page 2.

I have been working on this new site with RC and mainly trying to fix preview and print with little success.

Today, I found this page https://www.ambiera.com/forum.php?t=6020 with several RC sites and visited each one to see Print Preview. Few, if any displayed pages correctly and most did not have all of the page shown in preview. Same thing I am having problem with so I am wondering if this is a but in RC?

This one of the things I am having problem with - masterpage has header image, menu bar and then a title container. Under that is a Content Placeholder. I have tweaked many settings with little success, set all margins to 0, sezised the Placeholder to very small to very large to none. Nothing fixes the problem!

Help!

Did you try enabling "View -> Show invisible Symbols"? Maybe you've got a newline somewhere.

Altnernatively, you can send me your rcd file (see support -> contact on this website, there is also an email address printed) and I'll have a look at what is wrong with the design.

That sounds alarming and caused me to try my own sites:
https://weingutschickjugenheim.d...
https://4hundert.de
https://4hundert.de/rctips
Fortunately, all of them print nicely and without any gaps or empty pages.

But I see what you mean: If I send this forum page to my PDF printer I get just the menu on page one. The posts will be printed only as of page 2.

I do not see the "View" feature in mv version 4.4 of RC. I have v4.8 but have not used it yet. I plan to buy RC but want to make sure the print issue and responsive view work OK before I do.

I edited the masterpage to remove the title container and now the only thing there is the header image and the menubar.
I edited all of the several pages to change the padding and margins and all look OK in preview and when I uploaded to server. They do look OK live in browser but do not look correct in browser print preview. The longer pages that would normally take 2-3 pages to print are cut off and will only print page 1. If I reduce print size to 50% or less they print OK but are basically unreadable at that size.

I will email you the RCD file and send the url for the website.

Thanks!

Version 4.4
The "View" option (show invisible characters) was introduced with version 4.5.

There is no risk in trying the current 4.8 version. You don't even have to uninstall your old 4.4 but can keep both. If you then should decide for buying the Pro you would just enter the license into the 4.8 version.

I can confirm the print issue. As said earlier in this thread, all pages of the 3 projects I've made since August last year print nicely and exactly as displayed in the browser. And they all use a masterpage with header, footer and content placeholder. All of them are made from scratch, i.e. without using any template.

However, these days I was working on a little project based on one of RocketCake's pre-built templates. I introduced a masterpage and added some pages. And on this project I've got exactly that print issue. The print preview displays the header and the content section on the first page, followed by a huge gap showing just the dark grey page background, and the footer section comes only on the second page. See here, and try print preview:
https://4hundert.de/rctips/templ...

I can't figure out what I did right on my own pages, or what I did wrong on the template rebuild.

By the way, the same print issue occurs on this forum's page, or on the RocketCake product page.
