I was editing a website in the afternoon, then a few hours later I wanted to make some changes. To my surprise, it did not load the .rcd file. I installed a previous version: nothing. Reinstalled the existing version (4.8): nothing. Rebooted the computer: nothing. What could have gone wrong?

Do you get an error message or similar?
If you like, I can have a look at the file, send it to the email address printed under Support -> Contact on this website.

I just tried on the office PC, same thing: nothing happens. No error message. Not even the hourglass appears as usual. Interestingly, the much smaller web pages created with this program open normally and can be edited. Would something have happened to the file? But what? :-O I cannot send the file because it is 2 GB.
I even wondered if there might be a size limit? Say over 2 GB? But I couldn't find any information about that ...

Might be a reason. Did you try the 64bit version of RocketCake? It handles large file sizes much better. You can get it from the download page.

I have been using the 64-bit version since the beginning.
I just managed to download a couple of days older version from dropbox and I'm editing it.

I have now managed to edit the website, but when I tried to log in again, it does not load. If there really is a size limit, it would be nice to know, because I would design the site with that in mind.

My website's rcd has only 104 MB but even at this file size it takes some time until it opens. I usually open existing projects by double-clicking the rcd. At my 104 MB file size it doesn't seem to happen anything, except an error message saying "The program does not respond" but I have found that I have just to be patient. After some more time it will open. (Windows 10, 32 Bit).

Veger, yes, could be a good idea to split up your project into smaller ones if it is that large.
