Terminator (Space Invaders Clone)

A quick prototype game I started making yesterday, to try to get back into Coppercube.

Scene was created using billboards and standard dynamic lighting (no post-processing).

Final game will hopefully be a basic "Space Invaders" clone, with waves of T-800 Machines zig-zagging towards the player who can strafe left/right to shoot and hide behind the wall.

Will include upgrades (for Weapon and Speed) if bonus is collected during the round.

Enemy waves will get faster and stronger with different coloured Terminators: metallic silver, black, red, gold, blue.

Will include different scenes for variety - but the game will not become any more complex or fancy than that until it's 100% working.

so its basically a intro could be used for a menu screen..I have no idea how the game will be after watching it.. But its a very nice intro the model is very nice and the background

This demo show how is possible to do great graphics in the Coppercube engine! we can easily compare this graphics with good games from Playstation 2 era or even more!

Thanks coa and andgameplay! Yes, I'm really happy with how it looks, considering how simple it was to make - just a single texture on the Terminator model (applied as a sphere map in irrlicht settings)...

As for the game, it's pretty much going to be exactly as you see in the demo. Today, I've added LASER beams and Guns and got the Terminators to weave in and out between the buildings, shooting at the camera.Health decreases and blood spatters when hit and game restarts when player health is zeroed. Tomorrow, will add the Player model to hide behind the wall and can pop out to shoot back at them.

Will update the link when I've added a bit more to it.

*No coding, just visual scripting:

Screen fades in/out for start/end of scene.
"M" key toggles music on/off (with soft fade).
"Escape" key Quits game.
2 Terminator Characters follow paths between buildings.
Added Stainless-Steel and Polished-GoldTerminators.
Terminator Characters shoot at the Player.
Tweaked IrrLicht shininess/specular values for better metallic textures.
Rifles have LASER sights and muzzle-flashes.
Eyes, bullets and muzzle-flashes are now illuminated.
3D Sounds for: shoot, hit, footsteps, ship, death, battlefield, thunder.
Randomised timing and distances for ambience sounds.
Synchronised character footstep sounds (real floor collision).
Blood spatter effect when hit.
Screen shatter effect when shot.
Improved flame texture for the particle generator.
Scene ends/restarts when players health is zeroed.
Offset bullet-billboard and dummy-player to calibrate enemy aim.
Basic GUI bar with health and ammo counters.
Low-Health and Low-Ammo warning icons.
Cyclic "hints & instructions" menu-bar.
Added shadow details on Terminator models.
Made some better eyes for the Terminators.
"Terminated" end-screen and voice sample.

Added the following details...

Low-Poly Player Character/Soldier.
Custom Player head (modeled on my own face).
Custom Player clothing/Uniform.
Low-Poly Player weapon (L85a1 Rifle).
Weapon material: texture, lighting and shininess.
Player muzzle flash and dynamic lighting.
Player's empty-cartridges fall to ground with gravity/rotation.
Realistic sound effect for rifle firing.
Player character animations (shoot/reload/death).
Updated instructions/hints.
Nice blood-spatter animation when player shot/killed.
Player hit animation (prevents player from shooting).
Ammo reload (manual or automatic).
Basic mouse control (Left/Right Mouse Buttons).

Today's update:

Enemy AI: Path-following, terrain-following, head-shot.
Sound-effects: empty brass, dry-firing, mag-reload.
Transparent Muzzle Gases for SA80 Rifle when firing.
Movement: Player Strafes Left/Right.
Left and Right screen-edge-stoppers prevent over-travel.
Wall Provides cover from enemy fire.
Sound: Ricochet when wall hit.
Basic parallax mouse-aiming (player strafes around target).
Player's rifle fires bullets to changeable aim-point.
Terminators take damage and can be killed.
Metal ricochet sound-effect when Terminator hit.
Smoke-damage particle-effect for Terminators.
Round restart when all (two) terminators are killed.
Basic Score system.

Hi VP i tryed your your new update but I had problems with it. the fullscreen would not hold focus so i could not play it.. maybe because the resolution is to high.
