Now you have a taste for it, you can try different versions of linux as they're all slightly different but can install in the same way. Pops looks good as per the recommendation above as is Mint (both are based on Ubuntu). You can also "Dual boot it" from your main drive - so when your computer starts, you can choose to boot between windows or Linux (Personally I warn against it as it can cause problems with booting Windows sometimes by modifying the boot partition, the system BIOS UEFI can get annoyed with it) - instead you can run it from the external drive or even from a virtual machine inside Windows - it's still very fast - you can even run it from a CD and it will load into RAM. In all cases, the package manager should be under the "System" options on the desktop. Try right-clicking the desktop, click system>package manager, then search fro W.I.N.E. On smaller Linux installs, W.I.N.E is not be there by default (to save space), you have to install it afterwards but some Linux distributions come fully loaded with office/graphics/media etc - but they're better suited for installing on a harddrive. For portable drives, they strip it down to just the operating system and essential apps/programs..... It's a while since I used it - if package manager doesn't work straight away, you may need to just add the "repository" link (or you can always download&install directly from the command line instead) as most Linux software is managed only by trusted servers (repositories) - you can set up which repositories you want to use - but there is usually a few popular ones set up by default, ready to use.[/quote]
