Make documentation collaborative

In my opinion it would be useful if the documentation and tutorial section would be collaborative like a wiki page so anyone can register and edit the page add new ones if necessary , upload images and files, embed/link videos, write/format text.

This way the community would be able to collect tutorials and other useful informations in one place next to the official documentation.

At the moment community tutorials are scattered all over the place. Wondering how many great tutorials, explanations, examples get lost somewhere on a small blog or even in the help and coding section of the forum.

Even if you decide to not make the official documentation editable by the community I think you should still consider to offer a place to collect and host community made tutorials.

Yes, this should have been started long ago!
Why not ask Zoo if that's possible on the Marshtownmadness site?

Why not ask Zoo if that's possible on the Marshtownmadness site?

The problem is that, the website is owned by 3rd party so if he decide to no longer host the website we lose everything or if he decide people need to pay for access we can not do anything about it.
I think he was even shut the website down once because he asked for donations but the people didn't donated or something and I just checked, and seems like to download anything require registration on the website already..

This is exactly what we need to avoid and I think It should be hosted here at www.ambiera.com/coppercube/doc/
This is the only way I would be interested to collaborate.

I totally agree that the most sustainable solution would be on Ambiera.com.
Niko, what do you think about it?

Yes, maybe a wiki or similar would be working. Let's see.

I have never shut down the website...

I would be happy to install a wiki and collaborate with Niko

I have never shut down the website...

Here is your announcement about it on the forum:
http://www.ambiera.com/forum.php...

Maybe you did not shut the website down but you made the announcement and change your mind 2 days after.
Judging from the comments, you have deleted the website for at least a day. We can't afford to play games like this with community made content.

I would be happy to install a wiki and collaborate with Niko

If the content would be hosted on your or any other 3rd party website, anyone should be able to make a backup and download the full content any time so we don't lose everything if you can no longer afford to host the website.

A WIKI.

As CC is now free and probably lots of new people enter the forums with questions thas has been asked many times before, I'd like to lift the suggestion about building a wiki or similar.

This forum could still be around for discussions, mentions of bugs and similar, which a forum is built for. And the wiki would only be how-to's, suggestions, work-arounds, etc.

Niko, would you like to start one? Host one? Like soon? :-)
Would in my opinion be the most attractive solution for users as well as for Ambiera, don't you think?

Or would you rather "outsource" it? If so, there needs to be a very obvious, fronted link from your site to it, otherwise it will not gain any traffic.

:-)

Hello, I'm new here. Recently started using CopperCube, loving it! Moving from Unity3d which I used for about 4 years.

I really enjoy CC and I think it is a great application. However, I am interested in seeing more information about it. So I think a Wiki is a great choice. Wikis can be hosted almost anywhere. There are so many free options too! And later can be easily migrated to different servers.

So I think it's just a matter of choosing a host and adding a domain name now. Someone could make a wiki on a free server and add a link, if Ambiera likes it, they can make a domain like
wiki.ambiera.com/coppercube/6

[EDIT]
Here I'll provide a link to some hosting services:

Hello All,

We have recently got into CopperCube and planning to use it with some of our upcoming projects. We just got started from a parent game studio and now working out on a portal/website and might add something similar or related.

For those who will be interested, we will keep you posted here or just create another post when we are ready for testing/beta.

Thanks.

I made a tutorial and a Wiki.
http://coppercube.shoutwiki.com/...
It is hosted by Shoutwiki.com, I like their provided theme, but their SSL connection is broken, so go with basic accounts and don't reuse passwords (if you were to join). Guest editing is enabled too.

Thinking about migrating to Miraheze, which is free has no ads + good SSL. Waiting for approval from them to make a wiki. Check them out: https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/M...

Great initiative!
I'll add to it a little now and then :)

I have been here for 10 years.
and nothing has changed
the same old list with extensions (actions and behaviors)

Making a wiki is a lot of work,
and the community is really small.
That is I think the main reason
nobody bothered to put some effort in it.

There have been some attempts in the past.
But without a back link to the wiki. that also is futile work.
