In all honestly, do small projects to learn the engine. Then make an attempt like that. Familiarity with the engine will make it easier to progress with bigger projects.

This is how i learn. Making small and unfinished games can't help me to get better at scripting. I want to make this big so i can dive deep into scripting and programing, learn all of the basic, and then using my creativity to reinforce my scripting skill and get better with the game engine.

Just because I said small was no indication of stating not completing
the project. I've just seen this type of question on Gamemaker, Fusion, Construct, Unity and other forums and it is what have always been suggested.

But anyhow, if your going to script you need to learn JavaScript, the engine doesn't teach you that being that scripting is an advance feature you have to already be familiar with it. They provide the API for the functions for the engine.

Then break your project into pieces and milestones. Basically, tackle each feature one by one. Like maybe focus on the main character and start programming everything he can do and go from there.

So even if you started small it doesn't have to be unrelated to what you want to do. Each small part would contribute to the whole. Which would be easier if the editor had the capability of saving behavior structures independently. Which I just sent the idea to Niko being that would open up reusability.

Focus on one piece get that working the way you want then repeat.
