Animations cutting eachother out

Ok so say you have a regular animated model that walks when you press "W" but you want him to do a flip when you press "F" but you don't want him to start walking in the middle of the flip animation if the player presses "W" in the middle of the flip. The closest I've come is giving the node "object moved by keyboard" set to "disable when camera not active" and when key "F" pressed, change camera to a 2nd 3rd person camera that's centered on a scene node attached to the first nodes animated joint and then do the flip, however, when the 2nd camera switches back to the original it is very choppy, and if I wanted to have my character do a punch, for example, or any other short animation, the cameras would be flashing all over the place. Any ideas?
